Basically, I am more a jazz fan than of other kinds of music, but since my dear departed father was Irish-Australian, I do appreciate the music of the Emerald Isle when I get a chance to hear it. When I walked into the Knoxoleum I was met by a small band of ladies and gentlemen dressed in traditional Irish and Scottish attire. Well, since I was expecting to speak with some Irish musicians, you can imagine my surprise to be faced with the fact that this Irish group is made up entirely of Bavarian (Bayerish) musicians. “Ah,” They said, “We are Bayerish Irish” (Bavarian Irish).

Well don’t let the origin of the players fool you. The Irish and Scotch music that these fine people play is the real thing, and they sing with accents (I heard Dublin and Liverpool) as authentic as Irish whiskey and the Shamrocks they name their group after. Also they have a repertoire of old favorites and traditional folk tunes from Ireland and Scotland that is so extensive that they could probably play three or four concerts in a row without repeating themselves once. In spite of some of the sad and touching traditional ballads, this is hearty and fun music - and like most folk music, something that can be enjoyed by young and old alike - great for the whole family. A really fun music group.
