Jazz Keller Jam Session

9 April 2010

The Easter Burghausen jam session (which took place on 12.04.2010) was a little special since we had the pleasure of hearing some musicians from other nearby Bavarian towns who had never played in Burghausen before.

The basic group was a trio made up of three musicians who are well known throughout the region and have played with most of the top musicians from Germany, Austria and Eastern Europe.

Philipp Stauber, guitar, from Frasdorf.
Sava Medan, bass, from Munich.
Michael Keul. drums, from Samerberg.

The trio played a nice variety of tunes from standards to samba and provided a solid rhythm section for the horns.

Another dynamic young visitor who did justice to the evening was Valentin Preissler on tenor sax from Rosenheim.

For the last set, the inimitable Robby Siemens also showed up and gave us another demonstration of his usual smooth playing on tenor sax. (We will do an interview with Robby in an up-coming interview and talk about how he set up and continues to organizes the monthly jam sessions in Tittmoning which have been going on for over five years now.)

And a fine evening was had by all.
