This CD is a mini anthology of Bandoneon music (originally known as the Concertina) from Bach to Piazzolla. It comes with liner notes in good English, French, German and Spanish and is graced by some classic sepia toned photos. In the text you will discover the interesting history of the instrument and how it evolved from the German Churches with the music of Bach, through the brothels of Argentina (with the Tango) to the dance floors of the world and, finally, to jazz-clubs with the music of Astor Piazzolla. About a third of the music tracks are Bach compositions and the rest are from Piazzolla. This CD is a real treat (and would make an ideal gift) for anyone who loves Tango and/or Piazzolla's music, and would like to get a little in-depth background along with some really engaging music. Enjoyable.
